It is ok to go to work, just do enough so you don't get fired, and live like that. Many do. But, it is only the average way. When you want to move forward in life, you have to understand the importance of why we need to set professional, career, and job goals. We have all see it. We have seen many people who operate in such a way. They go to work, and just do enough not to get fired. You may have done it or even may do it now. I know I did it in the past. But, this is not the way to excel in life. What do the high achievers do? I remember working in telesales many years ago. At that job I remember seeing on distinguishing individual, who used to make thousands every week, while we were only managing to get by. Yes, we tried our best, but looking back, that man had vision. He knew what he wanted and he got it. He would call up people, and get people to buy. He had goals. He had professional goals, he had career goals, and he had goals for his job. This is how it is for most goal setters. Goal setting is not a guarantee. It is not a guarantee that today you will set goals, and tomorrow you will achieve great success professionally, but it is much more likely than if you don't! Have you ever asked yourself why some people seem to come into the company with less qualifications and skills, but have a position that is much higher than your own? It happens and it happens because these people set goals. So, why do we need to set professional, career, and job goals? I think it is making sense. If you want to move forward, you must set those professional, career, and job goals. It is the only way to excel. But, how do you go about setting those goals professional, career, and job goals? The first step is to consider what you want. Where do you want to get professionally? Generally when working for a company, it is to move higher up the corporate ladder. But, that is not always the case. You may want to get from one department to another. It may first begin with setting learning goals. To learn something that can get you to have a chance in that position.
